Leah Herman
founder
A native of Toronto, Leah moved to New York City in 2008 to pursue an interest in food media. After internships writing for Eater and on the food production team at The Martha Stewart Show, like so many New York transplants she felt the pull of the restaurant industry and landed at Danny Meyer’s acclaimed Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG). Joining USHG’s internal marketing team, she worked on all communications facets of the brand’s portfolio of beloved restaurants including Gramercy Tavern, Union Square Cafe, The Modern, Maialino and Shake Shack. During her tenure at USHG, the company underwent extensive transformation, launching half a dozen new concepts and taking Shake Shack global as its number of locations grew from two to 40. From there, seeking a smaller team in an earlier phase of its growth, she served as the first Director of Media & Communications at Gabriel Stulman’s Happy Cooking Hospitality (formerly Little Wisco), the West Village-based family of restaurants that then included six Manhattan restaurants - Joseph Leonard, Jeffrey’s Grocery, Fedora, bar Sardine, Perla and Montmartre. In 2016, with Kindred Co. she launched her own consultancy focused on supporting like-minded businesses in the hospitality space.
